Tonight Chile tied its third match in the qualifiers to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. “La Roja” played as local at the National Stadium in Santiago.

Chile had the game’s first chance of the match with a dangerous shoot of striker Alexis Sanchez in the second minute. The Chileans have been dominant from the start of the game but It became quickly apparent that Colombia will fight until the end. And that was exactly what happened, because both teams advanced non stop, till midfielder Arturo Vidal notched the first goal in the 45th minute off after a free kick by Matias Fernandez.

The second half was less eventful than the first, and chances became increasingly harder to come by for both teams. At intervals the game seemed to be inclined to the Chilean side until Colombia equalized when striker James Rodriguez scored off a rebound in the 68th.

Then, the match turns heart-stopping, specially at the end , when Chile still managed to take the lead and Sampaoli’s team attempted several counterattacks from a midfield well, but without the expected results.
