President Michelle Bachelet traveled to paraguay in order to participate from the Mercosur summit.

On this context, the head of State, pronounced a speach, highlighting that 48% of the Chilean exterior investment (more than 40 thousand million dollars) has been invested in countries members of the Mercosur, and specified that the block currently is the fourth main commercial partner of the country.

At the same time Bachelet mentioned that during the coming year Chile will assume the presidency of the Pacific Alliance, a mechanism of regional integration made up by Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Peru>.

Regarding to this point, she expressed her interest about generating a dialogue between that alliance and the Mercosur, saying that “is possible and also indispensable move forward to convergence and the creation of synergies between these two integration mechanisms”.

Other subject to be analyzed, in the frame of this summit, is the situation of Venezuela.
