Yesterday were disclosed new antecedents related to the study requested by Soquimich (SQM) to the law firm Shearman & Sterling, in which Pablo Longueira (UDI) is involved due to suspicious perks ($730 million pesos, around $1 million dollar). Thus, during the last hours, some emails between him and Patricio Contesse, who worked as SQM General Manager for 25 years, were revealed.

Even though Longueira is the politician with the greater amount of “suppliers” on these payments, the Public Ministry has been watching him, to rebuild some evidences of his connection with this mining contributions.

It was in 2010, when the Government of Sebastián Piñera, sent a project of law of mining royalty in order to collect funds to face the country´s reconstruction, after the quake of February 27th. Ever since that fact, the secret conversations, between Longueira and Contesse, would have begun; according to the article ” Las Huellas de Contesse” ( The traces of Contesse) from Qué Pasa Magazine.

The first email, dates from August 10 of 2010, when the project of specific tax to the mining was in process to enter into discussion to the Congress.
