Among the swap of emails between Pablo Longueira (UDI) and Patricio Contesse, ex CEO of SQM, the investigation made by Ciper Chile found a file of 2010, which contains one of the articles included at the mining royalty law, in favor of SQM.

With this dirty play, SQM was able to access to the benefit of fiscal invariability, that originally was reserved only for companies that had contracts with the State.

Previously, Pablo Longueira, who in 2010 was senator, informed to Soquimich about the initial text, which was catalogued by Patricio Contesse as “a mockery”. This way, the CEO, changed the text and sent out a brand new version of the document back to Longueira.

The meddling of Contesse was total, to the point of sending his proposal on letter format, with the purpose of be submitted at the congress without any other modification.

According to Ciper Chile, Longueira would have received payments from SQM, when he was senator of the Republic and also Economy minister of Sebastián Piñera, through fake receipts, and also through a company he had together with his wife.

Now, the Public Ministry is waiting for actions of the SII against Longueira, to start with new judicial proceedings.
