This Wednesday the General Assembly of the United Nations, chose Chile, with the support of 180 countries, as member of the Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) for the 2016-2018 term.

It’s important to mention that the Ecosoc is the principal body of the United Nations, in charge of the examination and dialogue of the policies and the recomendations about aspects related to the economic and social development.

Chancellor, Heraldo Muñoz, expressed by a statement that this election is a sign of the valuation to the Chilean leadership at the United Nations, and also a recognition to the professionalism, seriousness and commitment of the chilean diplomacy with the cause of the inclusive development.
