Los críticos de cine de Hollywood celebraron en grande este domingo a “Roma”, el drama del cineasta mexicano Alfonso Cuarón inspirado en su propia infancia.
La cinta en blanco y negro se llevó el Critics’ Choice Award a mejor película y mejor película extranjera, así como mejor dirección y fotografía para Cuarón.
“Estos pocos mexicanos no son tan malos como los pintan”, dijo el cineasta en una clara referencia al discurso del presidente Donald Trump sobre inmigración.
Otro mexicano ganó en 2018: Guillermo del Toro, por “La forma del agua”, que también se llevó entonces el galardón a mejor película.
“Roma” es un retrato vívido del turbulento México de los 70, contado a través de las vidas de las dos mujeres que marcaron la vida del cineasta: su madre, en pleno proceso de separación, y su niñera de origen indígena y embarazada tras sus primeras experiencias sexuales.
Ganó dos Globos de Oro, incluido dirección y mejor filme en lengua no inglesa, y se perfila como un nominado importante para el Óscar.
Christian Bale ganó como mejor actor y mejor actor de comedia por “Vice”, mientras que Glenn Close (“La esposa”) y Lady Gaga (“Nace una estrella”) compartieron la estatuilla a mejor actriz.
Mahershala Ali (“Green Book”) y Regina King (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) fueron premiados como actores secundarios, coincidiendo con el Globo de Oro. “La favorita” ganó como mejor elenco y Olivia Colman, como mejor actriz de comedia.
“Spider-Man: Un nuevo universo”, que cuenta la historia de un Hombre Araña mitad latino y mitad negro, fue premiada como mejor cinta animada, superando a “Los Increíbles 2” de Pixar y “Wifi Ralph” de Disney.
“Misión: Imposible – Repercusión” se llevó el premio a mejor cinta de acción, por encima inclusive de las taquilleras “Pantera Negra” y “Avengers” de Marvel.
Lady Gaga también ganó mejor canción con “Shallow” y Justin Hurwitz ganó mejor banda sonora por “El primer hombre en la luna”.
Considerados unos de los termómetros para el Óscar, los Critics’ se entregaron este domingo en Santa Mónica, California, premiando igualmente lo mejor de la televisión.
“The Americans” y “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” se llevaron los premios a mejor serie dramática y de comedia respectivamente.
