Deputies of the Nueva mayoria party, requested the annulment of the mining royalty after the scandal in which the ex senator Pablo Longueira is involved.
According to the parliamentarians, the legislation afforded the way to rob to the Chilean State, through the licence conceded to Soquimich, to access to the permissions of fiscal invariability, under the presumed influence of its CEO, Patricio Contesse, in the writing of the project of mining royalty.
The approval of the initiative, allowed to the company the access to the fiscal benefits of millionaire potential, that was supposedly directed, through a net of people close to Longueira, that would have been the main receptor of the money, valued by the American auditor Shearman & Sterling in 730 million pesos.
In this way, deputy Hugo Gutiérrez (PC), calls to annul the legislation, that on his opinion, was made according to the interests of the SQM mining.
On his behalf, the interior minister, Jorge Burgos, explained that the law can be examined, as is stated by the constitutional norms.
On the other hand, Felipe Larraín, Economy minister at the administration of Sebastián Piñera, warned that every legislator had the opportunity for questioning the normative, which was highly dialogued, and supported.
