The largest producer of gold in the world, must face a collective suit by the investors in United States. The company has been accused of provide false information regarding to the reasons they would have for stopping the Pascua Lama project.

According to Reuters Agency, the investors assured Barrick promoted the project during this period as a “world-class project that will contribute low-cost ounces at double-digit returns,” even as it became clear the project would fall short of expectations.

In October of 2013, the Canadian corporation decided to stop the project, as consequence of the fall of gold prices and serious criticisms.

Meanwhile in Chile, the company was accused of opening roads without permission of environmental authorities.

However, Barrick Gold sustained that, the Environmental Tribunal was not able to prove the presumed damages to glaciers close to works.
