Chilean Economy grew 2.8% in February

According to the Central Bank, the rate of monthly activity (Imacec), reported that the Chilean economy grew up 2.8% in February, compared to the same month of the past year. The result was motivated by services, mining and trade.

Last week, the financing Institution, reduced its economy growth projection from range of 2-3% to range of 1.25-2.25% due to a larger deterioration of the internacional scenario.

Chile is the main producer of copper in the world, and is suffering the effects of the international fall of prices of the metal, a drop of almost 20% during 2015. Last year, the Chilean economy grew 2.1%, above the initial estimations, and surpassing the expansion of 2014, of 1.9%.
