The Copahue Volcano is located in the Alto Bío Bío commune, and currently is continuing on a degasification process. As a result, it is causing a weak eruption of fine ashes and low seismic activity.

According to the last report, submitted at 11.00 am of this Monday by the National Service of Geology and Mining (Sernageomin), it explained that as a consequence of this process the Volcano is maintaining a column of 400 meters of ashes.

The national Sernageomin director, Rodrigo Álvarez, told to Bío Bío Radio, that those conditions don´t make necessary to change from yellow alert to the orange one , considering the low seismic activity.

In addition he said that the eruption could be extended for days or weeks, thus, the monitoring will be continuing from Chile and Argentina.
