Este martes, el actor Garrett Clayton (27) compartió una potente declaración en su cuenta de Instagram. El joven, que llegó a la fama por protagonizar la película Teen Beach de Disney, reveló en esta plataforma que mantiene una relación con un hombre y lo difícil que le fue soportar el bullying por su homosexualidad.

Aprovechando su nuevo papel en la cinta Reach, en la que interpretará a un joven con depresión que lucha contra sus pensamientos suicidas, Clayton confesó que estos temas lo han tocado en profundidad.

“Reach se ocupa de temas muy serios y oportunos que me han afectado personalmente y que probablemente también han influido en muchas de sus vidas (…) He lidiado con el suicidio dentro de mi propia familia y un intenso bullying en la secudaria”, contó.

Para complementar su experiencia, agregó la de su novio (identificado en Instagram como “Blake Knight”), confirmado además su homosexualidad y relación. “El hombre con el que he estado en una relación durante mucho tiempo ha experimentado tiroteos dentro de mi familia”, relató.

With the release of my new movie REACH coming up, I thought it was important to explain why I took on this project in the first place. REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well. (I also prefer to share things that are particularly important for me here on my IG) instead of in some random magazine or online article – because you are the ones that have been rooting for me and following me on my professional and personal journey in life. When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of. I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and – on top of it all – myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time (@hrhblakeknight) have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events. These topics – not always easy to discuss- are all close to my heart, and, knowing how serious they are, I wanted to share this with you all. This film has come from the perspectives of people who care deeply about these issues, and if watching it helps even one person… then it was all worth it. ♥️

“No son temas fáciles de tratar”, admitió y aseguró que prefirió contarlo a su millón y medio de seguidores de Instagram en vez de una entrevista, por la honestidad que lo primero implica y su relación con sus fans. “Ustedes son los que me han apoyado y seguido en mi viaje profesional y personal”, dijo.

El actor confesó que lo único que espera es que Reach ayude a alguna persona en la misma situación. “Con sólo ayudar a una persona todo valdría la pena”, expresó.

Por su parte, la pareja del intérprete confirmó su relación y le entregó un mensaje de apoyo por la misma plataforma. “Estoy muy orgulloso de Garret. Él ha superado muchas cosas y aún tiene uno de los corazones más grandes que he conocido. Guapo, talentoso, divertido, amable (…) ¡Te amo Gary!”, escribió Blake junto a dos fotos de su novio.

Tras estas confesiones, publicaron fotos de ambos en sus redes sociales.
