The council of the Chilean Central Bank has taken the decision of increase the interest rate of currency policy to 3.5%.

The decision came out as consequence of an official statement of the United States Federal Reserve, after the rising of 0.25% on its interest rate.

The Central Bank emitted a press statement, explaining the reasons behind the rise. ” The external scenario continues showing the deterioration of the emerging economies, as a result of the drop of the raw material prices and due to the global financial conditions less favorables”, the text argued.

Regarding to the same point, the Central bank pointed out that another reason of the increase of the interest rate are the efforts for controlling the inflation.
