Lucas Balmaceda has come out as a transgender woman. She now identifies as Lux Pascal.
The 28-year old actress, a student at Juilliard, revealed her decision in a interview with Chile’s Ya Magazine.
Lux told the publication that she started hormone replacement therapy in July to mark her transition.
Pascal’s family has been supportive. “For them it has been something natural. Something they almost expected to happen,” she said.
“I had already talked about it with my whole family, step by step, like coming out of the closet as non binary (…) Finally, I can say that I am a woman,” she added.
For her new name, Lux chose Pascal in memory of her mother, who died when she was 7 years old.
Pedro Pascal took to Instagram to share Lux’s story with fans. “My sister, my heart, our Lux,” the Mandalorian star wrote.
In Chile, Lux Pascal starred in Los 80, a show about a middle-class family under Pinochet’s dictatorship; and Amazon’s La Jauría. She also participated in Netflix’s Narcos.
