The National Statistics Institute (INE) published the unemployment rate belonging to the period December 2015 – February 2016. The report shows an upward of 5.9%, this means 0.1% more, compared with the latest trimester.

In the same way, this rate scored 0.2 percentage points less than the same period, a year ago.

The main sector affected is mining, which has increased its unemployment rates to 17.3% during the last 12 months.

Regarding to the regions, Tarapacá has an unemployment rate of 8.3% ( the highest of the country), while Magallanes has the lowest rate, with 1.8%.
