The Chilean animation shortfilm “Bear story” has been crowned as the winner of the Oscar Awards, after being nominated at the category of Animation shortfilm of the 2016 Academy Awards. Turning into the first Chilean production to win an Oscar.

Bear Story is a moving shortfilm with a powerful message, directed by the talented Gabriel Osorio and produced by Pato Escala. The production competed against Prologue, Sanjay’s Super Team, We can’t live without cosmos y World of Tomorrow.

The story was Inspired by the exile of Osorio’s grandfather during the military dictatorship in Chile, and is about a bear who longs to return to his family, where he belongs.

Since it premiered in Annecy Animation festival, in june of 2014, has received over 50 international awards in the festival circuit, including Palm Springs Shortfest, Nashville; and now is the new Academy Award winner.
