This Monday, a landslide killed two Brazilian sisters who were 3 and 7 years old in Cajón del Maipo, Central Chile.

According to the police, the landslip occured around midday near El Yeso Reservoir, located to the southeast of Santiago, the country’s capital, 2.500 meters (8.200 feet) above sea level.

The victims were travelling with their parents and one of them died instantly. The other was rescued by a police helicopter and taken to San José Hospital, where she died of her injuries.

Further details of the landslide and their deaths are still unknown, but the family had arrived to the area on a tourist bus with 20 other people.

This tragedy happens a week and a half after six Brazilian tourists died in a Santiago flat that they rented through Airbnb, allegedly due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
