The community of Aukiñ Wallmapu Ngülam / Consejo de Todas las Tierras ( Council of all lands) repudiated the visit of the Interior Minister, Jorge Burgos, to the Araucanía’s region, to celebrate New Year eve with a contingent of Carabineros of the area.
Through a public statement, the one in charge of foreign affairs, Aucán Huilcamán Paillama, assured being sorry for the manipulation on the araucania’s situation, where burgos seems to be defying to president Michelle Bachelet.
During the week the president made an express visit to the region. The visit wasn’t informed properly to the Interior Minister and not even to the local authorities. As a result, the incident awaked an internal crisis on the Government.
As a reaction, Huilcamán called to Burgos to previously inform to the country if his stay with Carabineros in Pidima belongs to a joint Government activity or simply is part of his personal agenda in order to impose his repressive criteria on the Mapuches communities.
” The visit of the minister to the detachment of Pidima , where mainly live Mapuches is an evident provocation to the communities..”, he adds.
