This Tuesday, the chamber of deputies declared admissible two projects, one to annul the fourth provisional article from the mining royalty law, and a second one to repeal the same initiative.
The mentioned article is known as the “Contesse” extract, that would have been created by Patricio Contesse when he was CEO of SQM, and delivered to Pablo Longueira, through e-mail, when he was Economy minister, to be included without modifications.
The document was of benefit to the mining industry, especially for SQM, because the companies would only pay the fourth of all they would generate.
On this context, the low chamber voted about the admissibility of the two projects driven by the PC, PS and Izquierda Ciudadana, which were declared admissible. The projects are in process.
