Authorities revealed the final balance of contamination from the salmon industry, that left the toll of 39.942 tons of dead biomass at Los Lagos, in southern Chile.

According to the information delivered by SalmonChile, the loss comes to 106.000 tons, equivalent to 12 percent of the production.

On his behalf, Felipe Sandoval, president of SalmonChile, explained that the production decrease affects to the processing, and precisely for that reason, they must take measures with the industry workers to evaluate the situation.

In view of the above, other effect resulting from the crisis would be the international value, because prices are showing an evident rise. Before the contamination, the salmon price abroad was set in US$4 per pound, and now has reached 5.8 dollars per pound.
