The Chilean National Football team, achieved a crucial victory in Barinas, beating Venezuela 4-1, and recovered its leading position at Conmebol World cup qualifying 2018.

Venezuela showed its game quickly, and Rómulo Otero (Huachipato), scored the opener in the 9th minute. The “Vinotinto” tormented Chile’s defence during the first half.

When the game seemed to become more difficult, Mauricio Pinilla scored with his head in the 32nd minute off a perfect delivery from a corner by Alexis Sánchez, and equalized.

The score awaked the Chileans, and the triangle made up by Silva, Vidal and Gutierrez, starts functioning.

At the second half, Chile played calmly. La roja was dominating the game in Barinas, when “Pinigol”, once again, added the second in the 51st, hammering home a cross from Beausejour, from the left sector.

Arturo Vidal gave the visitors the tranquillity in the 71st minute, and scored another goal with “el niño maravilla” in the 91st minute to make it 4-1.

The win moved Chile to 10 points, three behind joint leaders Uruguay and Colombia.
