The exports of Los Lagos region have decreased almost 100 million dollars, during January of 2016, due to crisis of salmon industry.

This amount means a negative variation (year to year) of 20.1%, compared to the same period of the past year.

Guillermo Roa, regional director of National Statistics Institute (INE), assured that this reduction occurred due to the crisis of salmon prices at differents markets.

The most affected markets are Asia and North America, and represent over the 80% of total sales of products coming from this region.

The same research pointed out that other productive industries are suffering important drops, as the industries of cattle and forestry, which decreased its benefits with the exportations.
