The Institute of Public Health (ISP) is evaluating if resorts to the National Economic Prosecuting (FNE) to request an investigation due to a possible collusion case, between medical laboratories, after the complaint submitted by two municipalities.

The municipalities assured that the laboratories prices were higher than the prices at common drugstores.

But, despite of the ISP has began an investigation to determinate the veracity of the complaint, the institution has not discarded to present the situation before the FNE.

The director of the ISP, Alex Figueroa, went beyond and announced they will try to prove the authority suspicion, that is, that laboratories are fixing prices together with pharmacies.

On his behalf, Elmer Torres, executive vice president of Industrial Association of Laboratories (Asilfa), assured that the Chilean industry of medicines is willing to contribute to the investigation and also to favor initiatives like popular pharmacies.
