The rectors of private universities, who are not part of the Council of Rectors, questioned the gratuity proposal of the higher education for the next year, due to it would be about an “impartial privilege”.

The ex-rector of the University of Chile, Luis Riveros, indicated that the Government idea will provoke discrimination, because universities would have only considering the 50% of their most vulnerable students.

Meanwhile from the Confech (Chile students confederation), they pointed out that this is about a selective initiative, which is going to marginalize the students to apply for the benefit.

The highest representatives of the private universities had a special meeting where requirements and conditions to apply to the scholarship were analyzed.
