During the afternoon of this wednesday a massive quake shocked the north and central zones of the country, the tremor occurred specifically at 7:54 pm.

According to the preliminary information of the Seismologic center of the University of Chile, the seismic activity had a magnitude of 8 with a profundity of 17.7 km. Located 46 km west from Canela Baja, Coquimbo Region.

Consequently the SHOA declared a tsunami alert for the whole Chilean coast. Thus, the state secretary, Jorge Burgos, while at the SHOA central Office, explained how indispensable is to evacuate the board coast as a preventive measure.

Therefore, the ONEMI activated the evacuation protocols and through the national authorities are commanding the evacuation of the coast board, from Arica to Puerto Aysén.
