On Thursday, members of the Police Investigations (PDI) and Forensic Medical Service (SML) personnel arrived at the place, following a police report filed by workers who found human bones while fixing the sewage system.

The remains were found in the courtyard of the Tower B, located at Santa Rosa Street 900. This place used to be The Armored Regiment Number 2 of the Army. It is possible that the bones belong to missing detainee during Pinochet’s dictatorship.

Marisol Intriago from the special unit of Forensic Identification of the SML confirmed that the bones found were human remains, which were manipulated, meaning they did not have a regular burial.

SML specialists are working on setting the dates of these remains, in order to know whether they are historical or part of a criminal act.

The PDI confirmed that Brigade of Human Rights will be in charge of the investigation.
