At least 3 Ministers of the current Government and 50 parliamentarians received funding from Soquimich by means of bills, and now it is being investigated which cases could be considered as an offense.
This record, that in case of the parliamentarians is divided into 13 senators – a third of the Upper House- and 37 representatives – about the 25% of the current Lower House. They belong to the New Plurality Group (Nueva Mayoria) and UDI, according to the consulted sources.
According to some exclusive information of Radio Bio Bio, all of them received funds by means of presenting bills corresponding to companies or societies belonging to relatives, friends, and counselors that were paid by the SQM that, up until now, is controlled by Julio Ponce Lerou.
The record is now in the Prosecutors hands, they are lead by the National Prosecutor Sabas Chahuan, Carlos Gajardo, Pablo Norambuena and Emiliano Arias, who are working to identify the background information between the relation of the politicians and the tax documents in their possession that are considered as confidential for 40 days.
The information has been in their possession since last January 16th, which was the time when they were at Soquimich offices for the first time, and they were voluntarily handed the Book of Withholding Tax.
